Staff


      

Karin Christiansen is the Director of Publish What You Fund. Initially working on secondment from her post as the Policy Manager at the ONE campaign, prior to that she worked for 6 years as Research Fellow at the London-based think tank, the Overseas Development Institute working in the Poverty and Public Policy Group.

Her policy and research specialism includes:

  • Aid, donor behaviour, aid effectiveness and reform particularly from a recipient country perspective
  • National policy and public finance process
  • Fragile states, donor country policy coherence
  • Growth, agriculture/natural resources and food security (in Africa)

 She joined ODI having worked as an Economist at the Rwandan Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Prior to that Karin worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Catholic Relief Services in Croatia. She studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics as an undergraduate, and has Masters degrees in Development Economics and in Social and Political Thought. Her country-level work includes Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Yemen, Pakistan and Croatia.

Catalina Reyes is working as an Advocacy & Research Officer. Catalina completed her M.A. from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in International Affairs in May 2008 and joined Publish What You Fund in August 2009.

Cormac Nolan is working as a Research Assistant and has an MA in Development from Dublin City University.His previous experience includes work for ProCredit in Ghana and and Sierra Leone.

Federico Pirzio-Biroli is working as an Advocacy & Communications Officer    

His previous experience includes work for Pharmasecure and Oxfam in Uganda. He has an MA in Psychology and Philosophy from St. Andrews University.

Christine TshibanguChristine Tshibangu is the Executive Assistant at Publish What You Fund. Christine has significant experience in the non-profit sector. For the past 7 years, Christine has enjoyed working for NGOs as a support officer and gained the experience of working with people at all levels.

Claudia Elliot is working on Communications and has a BSc in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics. She has worked in diverse areas of the non-profit sector and joined Publish What You Fund in January 2010.

Marcus Roberts is leading the campaign’s Advocacy, Communications & Fundraising efforts. He is a campaigns specialist with extensive political and policy experience in the US. He previously worked as Director of External Affairs at the US chapter of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and as Director of Development at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs.  Marcus has over 10 years of work experience in the charitable sector and postgraduate qualifications in Non-Profit Management from New York University and War Studies from Kings, College London

     Martin Tisné (Tiri)

One of the founders of Publish What You Fund, Martin Tisne is programme director for the London-based NGO Tiri, where he leads a Network of CSOs working on transparency and accountability reforms in post-war settings.

 
 

       Helen Darbishire (Access Info)

Helen is a human rights activist specialising in access to information (freedom of information) and media freedom. Helen is Executive Director of Access Info, a human rights organisation based in Madrid that works to promote and defend the right of access to information in Europe and internationally.

 

          Oliver Buston (ONE)

 

 Sarah Mulley (personal capacity, former UKAN Coordinator)

Sarah Mulley is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research. She was previously coordinator of the UK Aid Network, and Chair of the European Aid Watch Initiative. She also led work on aid at the Global Economic Governance Programme at the University of Oxford.

 

Caroline Sergeant (personal capacity, former UK Alternate Executive Director to the World Bank

Advisers


Our advisers are people who have agreed to provide us with advice and support. Our current advisers are:

            Rushanara Ali is an Associate Director of the Young Foundation and head of the research and international team.

 

      Owen Barder leads the aidinfo programme at Development Initiatives. He also works on a variety of aid effectiveness and African economics issues. He is on sabbatical leave from the UK Department for International Development. He lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

Mark        Mark Brough bears the heavy burden of having created this website (made in Drupal, if you're interested). He previously worked as a research assistant for Publish What You Fund from January to March 2009, and had a brief stint at CNN beforehand. He is currently working as a research assistant in Westminster, and spending a substantial part of his spare time trying to fix Oxford Aid to the Balkans.

Former Staff and Interns


                            

Laura Gisby worked as a Research and Media Assistant. She completed her masters in International Development in September 2008 and worked for the RAPID group at the Overseas Development Institute before joining Publish What You Fund in March 2009.

 

Matthew Grey worked as a Research Assistant. He completed his masters in International Law in September 2008, and was working with a number of refugee organisations in Wales before joining Publish What You Fund in February 2009.

 

Humayra Rahman worked as a Media and Communications assistant. She completed her bachelors in Arabic and Persian from SOAS in July 2008 and joined Publish What You Fund in June 2009.

 

Simon Parry was Head of Operations of Publish What You Fund. Simon is an expert in non-profit operations and technology and has 17 years work experience in development and post-conflict operations worldwide. 

 

Sarah Hewison worked on the World Bank outreach. Sarah was also an Advocacy & Research Officer. She holds a BA in English from the University of Bristol and has a background in Consulting

 

Emma Broadbent was working as a Research Assistant. Before joining Publish What You Fund in April 2009 she worked at the Overseas Development Institute as a researcher. She has an MA from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and is currently completing an MA in Conflict, Security and Development at Kings College London. Her consultancy experience includes work for Tiri in Sierra Leone and the BBC World Service.
