Karin Christiansen is the Managing Director of Publish What You Fund.  Prior to setting up Publish What You Fund she worked as the Policy Manager at the ONE campaign and for six years as Research Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute. Her policy and research specialisms include aid, donor behaviour, aid effectiveness and reform – particularly from a recipient country perspective.  She joined ODI having worked as an Economist at the Rwandan Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture.  Prior to that Karin worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Catholic Relief Services in Croatia. She studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics as an undergraduate, and has Masters degrees in Development Economics and in Social and Political Thought.

Andrew Clarke is Advocacy Manager.  His role includes developing, managing and coordinating Publish What You Fund’s advocacy strategy and communication activities. Andrew’s background is in political advocacy and aid effectiveness.  He has previously held the position of public affairs manager at Ranelagh International Ltd (a political consultancy), and has worked as a consultant with the Overseas Development Institute.  He holds a MA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and a BA Hons in History from the University of Cambridge.

Rachel Rank is our Research and Monitoring Manager.  Her role includes developing, managing and implementing Publish What You Fund’s research and monitoring products and establishing partnerships with other organisations focusing on aid transparency.  Rachel’s background is in the design and delivery of governance and institutional capacity building programmes and the production of advocacy and research publications.  She has previously held positions with the Commonwealth Secretariat, the consulting company DAI, Transparency International and the Overseas Development Institute.  She holds a BA in East European Studies and an MA in Politics, Security and Integration.

James Aufricht is our Research Assistant, supporting Publish What You Fund’s research and monitoring work and implementing the 2012 Aid Transparency Tracker. He holds an MA in Public Policy from King’s College London and a BA (Hons) in International Relations from the University of Toronto. Before joining Publish What You Fund he held positions in the non-profit and research sectors.

Mark Brough is our Research Officer, supporting Publish What You Fund’s research and monitoring work and developing tech and advocacy tools from this. Recent projects include the design of visualisations to monitor aid and budget flows to Uganda; and a mapping of donor aid data in an open source platform, OpenSpending. Mark’s previous experience includes working as a researcher for a Member of Parliament, as a project manager at OXAB Kosovo and as a consultant to CAFOD. He holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.

Linda Grimsey is our Operations Manager. Linda has many years’ experience in finance and operations, and has worked in diverse roles in the not-for-profit sector. Linda joined Publish What You Fund in November 2011.

Sally Paxton is our U.S. Representative and leads on U.S. implementation of aid transparency commitments from Washington, D.C.. Sally has worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the Global Health Policy and Advocacy Program, at the International Labor Organization, and was appointed by President Clinton to serve as Deputy Solicitor of Labor from 1999-2001 and as a Special Associate Counsel to the President at the White House from 1996-1999. Sally received a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986, a B.A. from Middlebury College in 1978,  and is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland. Sally joined Publish What You Fund in March 2012.

Catalina Reyes is our Advocacy Officer. Catalina monitors our World Bank and U.S. foreign assistance and aid transparency while directly engaging with our counterparts who work on aid reform and aid effectiveness.  Her background includes education reform and human rights advocacy in the non profit sector.  She holds a BA in Psychology from Arizona State University and a MA in International Affairs from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.  After 14 years in the U.S., Catalina moved to London and joined Publish What You Fund in August 2009.

Liz Steele is our EU Representative. Liz monitors European development policy, aid effectiveness and aid transparency while engaging directly with the EU institutions such as the European Council, European Commission and European Parliament and with civil society organisations, such as the European NGO Confederation (CONCORD).  Liz studied the politics, law and economics of the European Union as an undergraduate and has worked in Brussels for the past 18 years.  Her background includes working in the non-profit sector for Médecins Sans Frontières in Nicaragua, Rwanda and Peru and more recently for CARE International as their EU Representative.  Prior to that, she has worked for the European Commission in the EuropeAid Co-operation Office in Brussels and in the EU Delegation in Moscow.  Liz joined Publish What You Fund in September 2010.

Nicole Valentinuzzi is our Senior Communications Officer, heading up our media and strategic communication function. Nicole has experience working in central government communications, as a press officer and as a private secretary in charge of visits and events for the U.K. Secretary of State for Justice. Her background is in journalism, having trained in Canada, and has held several print and radio editing positions in the past. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Communications from Leeds-Trinity University.  Nicole is a member of Canadian Women in Communications and Chartered Institute of Public Relations (UK).

Nicholas Winnett is our Executive Assistant, supporting the Managing Director, and assisting the wider organisation’s advocacy and research efforts. Nicholas holds a BA in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics. He worked at a sustainable food organisation before joining Publish What You Fund in April 2011.
