UK’s Department for International Development launches Project Information Database to improve aid transparency

(London) – The Department for International Development (DfID) has released their new Project Information database. The database, which comes in response to DfID’s 2009 White Paper promise, aims “to improve aid transparency in line with the commitments made through the International Aid Transparency Initiative”.

The publically accessible information database, which can be searched on a country and sector basis, includes summaries of each project, information on the funds it receives, and the levels of its project aid effectiveness.

Publish What You Fund’s Director, Karin Christiansen, praised the launch of the database saying: “DfID has taken a significant step forward in publishing what they fund. We welcome their continuing efforts in ensuring a high level of publically available information as this is an essential component for global aid effectiveness.”
