CSOs call for transparent aid from EC

By Katie Welford | Jan 27, 2011 | News

The European Commission is in the process of revising its development policy. Publish What You Fund engaged in the consultation process with other European NGOs. The result is a response to the Commission’s Green Paper “EU Development policy in support of inclusive growth and sustainable development: Increasing the impact of EU Development Policy” which has been submitted by the NGO platform, CONCORD.

CONCORD’s response aims to ensure the objective of European Union development is to support the poorest countries’ efforts to reduce poverty, and to recognise aid as an important source of development finance. In addition it urges Donors to fulfil their Paris and Accra commitments on aid effectiveness in the lead up to Busan, and stresses the centrality of aid transparency in ensuring maximum impact and accountability.

Read the full response here.
