Six months ahead of the December 2015 Busan deadline, Publish What You Fund assessed 22 major EU and US donors to see whether they were ‘on track’ or ‘off track’ to meet their aid transparency commitments.

The Index was launched in October 2014 at the Center for Global Development in Washington DC. The Honourable Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala gave the keynote address.

Launched at Brookings in Washington DC, the 2013 report marked the start of Global Transparency Week. The 2013 Index used a revised methodology that reflected the changes in the aid transparency landscape and the focus on the quality of published.

Launched on 1 October in Washington DC, followed by events in the European Parliament and London, the 2012 Index featured 72 organisations and showed an average score of 41%.

Following the success of the 2010 Assessment, Publish What You Fund went on to develop the Pilot Aid Transparency Index – the first of its kind. Launched at events in Busan, London and Washington DC, the 2011 Index had an average donor score of 34%, showing that there was much work to be done.

The 2010 Assessment was the first attempt to do a detailed comparative stocktake of the current level of aid transparency. It highlighted the huge challenge in finding primary, comparable data on donor’s funding and activities.
