Meet our independent reviewers

By Elma Jenkins | Mar 31, 2022 | Blog

As we await the final results of the 2022 Aid Transparency Index, Elma Jenkins has been speaking to some of our most crucial but least known researchers, the independent reviewers. The 2022 Index process has so far involved three months reviewing several thousand documents, extraordinary amounts of International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) data, 50 publishers and 36 independent reviewers. The reviewer role is crucial in ensuring we make a full and fair assessment of publishers’ data.

Aid delivery chains, organisation networking and the new Networked data indicator

By Alex Tilley | Nov 9, 2021 | Blog

Towards the end of last year we began a review of the Aid Transparency Index assessment method. High on our list of priorities was the issue of networking and linking of aid data, and how we might measure this in the Index assessment. In this blog, Alex Tilley provides an update on our review and the inclusion of the new Networked data indicator in the 2022 Index.

2022 Aid Transparency Index: which organisations will we assess?

By Alex Tilley | Aug 5, 2021 | Blog, News

We have now completed our selection process and can announce which organisations will be assessed in the 2022 Aid Transparency Index. The Index assesses the transparency of the major aid organisations internationally (including “South-South” donors) and assesses a different types of agency, including bilateral, multilateral and philanthropic organisations that provide both grants and development finance, and that intervene in humanitarian emergencies and fund development projects.
We will assess a total of 50 organisations in the 2022 Index, three more than we assessed in 2020.

Index method review: public consultation open until 6th April

By Elma Jenkins | Feb 25, 2021 | News

Last year we initiated a methodology review process for our Aid Transparency Index, with the aim of updating the assessment approach in order to ensure we adapt to new developments and continue to raise the bar for aid transparency. Following a period of research, online surveys and consultation meetings, we have developed a proposal for changes to the approach. We would appreciate any comment on our consultation paper.

Data use survey – help us improve the way we measure transparency

By Sam Cavenett | Nov 12, 2020 | News

We are currently reviewing the Index assessment and scoring approach. Our aim is to update the research process to adapt to new developments and ensure the Index continues to reflect the areas of aid transparency that are most important for those using the data, particularly stakeholders in the global south. We are keen to hear the views of people using aid data to inform our review, and strengthen how we measure transparency.
