As some of you might know, we’re working on an exciting new project about US foreign assistance.

The first thing we’ve been doing is putting the data to work. Using USAID’s Foreign Aid Explorer, we have identified their top 50 countries by spend and visualised it on the map below. Click one or more categories to see the countries light up.

This data represents spending data for fiscal year 2016. An updated version for 2017 will follow.

We’ll also be sharing analysis of the potential impact of proposed cuts to US foreign assistance across four countries.
