One third of global aid to be published to IATI before HLF-4
It has been announced that one third (33.05%) of all reported Official Development Assistance (ODA)* will be published to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) before the key HLF-4 meeting in Korea later this year. This was confirmed by the release from IATI of a further five implementation schedules last week.
Donors who become signatories to IATI must agree on an implementation schedule that details the timeframe for fulfilling their aid transparency commitments. It is very welcome news that so many donors have agreed implementation schedules that mean they will publish before the critical HLF-4 meeting. The forum at the end of November in Busan, Korea, is a crucial opportunity to hold governments to account for the transparency commitments they made in the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda for Action.
IATI signatories and observers now represent over 75% of all reported Official Development Assistance (ODA). With updated information from the Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, the UNDP and the Global Fund, IATI signatories now make up 50% of total ODA, and observers to the Initiative represent a further 25%.
Publish What You Fund hopes that more observers will become signatories and that more donors will commit to publish to IATI before HLF4.
