ONE Data Report shows lack of aid transparency

Yesterday, 25th May, saw the launch of the ONE campaign’s Data Report 2010, in which aid transparency emerged as a central theme. ‘Monitoring the G8 promise to Africa’, the report summarizes countries’ promises of development assistance and progress towards fulfilling these pledges in the last year.

A recommended standard for aid information disclosure is set out with reference to the International Aid Transparency Initiative and Publish What You Fund’s Principles. Increasing donor accountability through aid transparency is one of three ‘lessons learned’ to improve aid effectiveness, with donors still failing to record ODA accurately in recipients’ budgets.
