ONE Data Report shows lack of aid transparency
Yesterday, 25th May, saw the launch of the ONE campaign’s Data Report 2010, in which aid transparency emerged as a central theme. ‘Monitoring the G8 promise to Africa’, the report summarizes countries’ promises of development assistance and progress towards fulfilling these pledges in the last year.
A recommended standard for aid information disclosure is set out with reference to the International Aid Transparency Initiative
and Publish What You Fund’s Principles
. Increasing donor accountability through aid transparency is one of three ‘lessons learned’ to improve aid effectiveness, with donors still failing to record ODA accurately in recipients’ budgets.
