Perspective on Transparency 2.0

In a post on transparency 2.0, Nick Troiano at SocialGovernment.com reflects on a discussion featured by the National Conference on Citizenship, entitled “In Transparency, We Trust?" Nick states that participation is key to this concept. He argues that “a window between the people and their government” is no longer enough. What is now needed is the ability to reach through the window and “fiddle around.” Troiano highlights progress that has made been made in terms of the participatory aspects of transparency 2.0 and predicts that it will serve as the foundation of a more social and therefore responsive government, as it will enable empowered citizens to work with public officials to make informed decisions.
