Commitment to more predictable aid flows affirmed at May GAERC Meeting
The General Affairs and External Relations Council of the EU met on the 18th May for discussions over the organisation of development financing. The Paris Principles were used to frame a large part of the discussions, in which the Council agreed – amongst other issues such as mutual accountability – that EU Member States could increase the predictability of aid i.e. transparency of forward aid activities.
Increasing forward information on aid flows to aid the planning process is a central component of the aid transparency campaign. Publish What You Fund follows the Council in encouraging all EU Member States to actualise what they agreed in the Accra Agenda for Action in 2008 and supports the Council’s call for individual EU country action plans which outline their strategies for aid effectiveness.
