International Monetary Fund urged to be more transparent
US House of Representatives and New Rules – a network of development organisations are urging the Obama administration to support the need for more transparency in International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) decision-making.
The proposed conditions seek a more transparent and democratic financial body which is “responsive to the needs of [IMF’s] poorest borrowers”. New Rules ask for increased transparency in IMF’s deliberation processes and specifically ask for the “public release of all documents related to its executive board meetings and decisions within two years”.
