The case for aid transparency made brilliantly by Barder
Owen Barder, Director of the AidInfo project at Development Initiatives, speaks to the Center for Global Development about why aid transparency matters. The interview does an excellent job in explaining why aid transparency is needed, how it can be implemented, and what impacts it might have.
Barder explains that donor governments need to focus on bringing together ‘raw data in a common format that’s accessible to everyone’ so that information systems can be built for specific communities and countries in the most relevant and usable way.
(On the technologies side of it, if you haven’t yet come across ‘augmented reality tools’, you will feel as enlightened and amazed as I was.)
