Irish Minister stresses importance of high quality aid
Irish Minister of State for Trade and Development Joe Costello has this week stressed the importance of maintaining the quality of Irish aid, in light of recent cuts to the aid budget.
Publish What You Fund Managing Director Karin Christiansen took part in a discussion this week with the Minister and the economist Moore McDowell on Irish Radio, praising Irish aid for its quality, but stressing the importance of greater aid transparency in maximising its impact.
In order for Irish aid to achieve its full potential Ireland should be fully participating in the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) by releasing a schedule for implementing IATI, and publishing what aid information they can to the Registry.
