Publish What You Fund’s Director presents at the 4th annual Open Knowledge Foundation conference

Our Director Karin Christiansen presented at the fourth annual Open Knowledge Foundation conference on the 28th of March. The Open Knowledge Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation promoting open knowledge, which they define as ‘any kind of information – sonnets to statistics, genes to geodata – that can be freely used, reused, and redistributed’.

New Kiel Institute Report on NGOs includes issue of transparency in NGO Aid

A new report, entitled ‘Keeping a Low Profile: What Determines the Allocation of Aid by Non-Governmental Organisations’, highlights the lack of information available on NGO aid activities.  The report undertakes a cross-country analysis of what drives NGO aid. It was found that whilst some beliefs about NGO aid are valid such as the targeting of beneficiaries, while others are false.

EU Aidwatch Report 2009 monitoring includes a focus on donors’ aid transparency

EU Aidwatch, which is a group of NGOs monitoring aid quality and quantity across the member states LINK (last year’s report) is in the processing of compiling it’s yearly report. Look out for a major section on aid transparency.

The World Bank’s Global Transparency Initiative

(USA) – As the World Bank launches a review of its policy on access to information, the Global Transparency Initiative will track the review process and provide analytical support to civil society groups concerned with transparency standards at the Bank.
