Localisation re-imagined: Funding for local actors in a changing aid landscape
Join us on 28 May as we bring together voices from local groups, INGOs, think tanks and funders to explore the current state of locally led development, the old and new barriers to change, and what needs to happen for local actors to have the power, resources and recognition they deserve. We’ll discuss if this is the time to rethink how we approach localisation.
Roundtable: Improving the transparency and accountability of women’s economic empowerment funding
In this roundtable event we are pleased to launch our new Improving funding transparency for women’s economic empowerment report. Our presentation synthesises our work from the last two years, extrapolating findings from across the three focus countries to unpack the current state of transparency in funding for women’s economic empowerment. We identify the key data limitations, including our ability to understand the impact of funding, and provide recommendations for funders to improve the reporting and publication of information to these areas. The roundtable, which took place on 15 December 2022, provided an opportunity for specialists in the field to give feedback on our findings and discuss future actions.

On 2 August, we launched our research on donor and government financing to address gender gaps in women’s economic empowerment, including unpaid care work and access to financial services, at a webinar hosted by the Center for Global Development. A panel of donor and civil society representatives reflected on these findings and discussed what future investments should look like.
