Netherlands and Bangladesh new IATI chairs
The Netherlands and Bangladesh have been confirmed as chairs of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) steering committee.
The new chair and vice-chairs, respectively, were confirmed at the committee meeting yesterday in Copenhagen. The Netherlands will represented by Robin Uyterlinde, and Bangladesh will be represented by Abul Kalam Azad. The appointment will last for two years.
Mr Azad said:
“The Vice-chairing role in the Steering Committee of IATI will enable Bangladesh to play a more active role in promoting the interests of the aid receiving countries at the international level.”
Mr Uyterlinde said he hope the Netherlands would be able to support “members to not only maintain, but also to further improve upon the IATI standard in view of the post-Busan era with the aim to involve and commit an increasing number of partners to transparency in development”.
