Belgium, Directorate-General International Cooperation*
Overview
The Directorate-General International Cooperation steers Belgian development policy and ensures coherence with broader foreign policy. The Directorate develops strategies, manages partnerships and monitors international cooperation. It supports sustainable development and humanitarian aid. Belgium became an IATI member in 2012, and first published IATI data in December 2014.
This agency chose not to participate in the 2026 Aid Transparency Index accreditation process. It has been included so that the Index continues to rank and apply advocacy pressure to the world’s largest aid and development agencies. It was subject to the same assessment and scoring approach as those agencies which participated in the accreditation process. More details of the approach are given in the FAQs section. Publish What You Fund only provides a full profile, including recommendations and a detailed breakdown of indicator scores, for those agencies that have undergone the full accreditation process.
*Formerly the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation and assessed under the short name Belgium-DGD
