Achieving developmental impact (or additionality) is a central mandate of DFIs, setting them apart from commercial institutions. The developmental contribution of DFIs is seen as a critical component in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This work stream will seek to understand the ways in which DFIs predict, measure, and record impact. This will involve identifying what data on development impact is collected by DFIs and their clients. We will interrogate what assumptions are built into methodologies of impact measurement and what forms of measurement (ex-ante or ex-post) are prioritised.
